"The PAM Family" was published in March 2025 to help introduce a fun, learning experience to make medicine time more friendly. It educates children on the top 10 most common forms of medicine and medication safety; such as how it should be kept in the home, never to share medicine, and if we take too much we may have to go see a doctor to get better.
Education is the best way to prevention. In the past few years, adolescent overdoses have increased. From 2018-2022, 93% of kids aged 10-17 had an accidental overdose or acute intoxication. In that same time frame with that same age group, 59% of suicidal deaths were related to poly-substance use while 54% of accidental deaths found poly-substance use (https://ncfrp.org/center-resources/quick-looks/opioid-related-deaths-in-children-ages-1-to-17/). We are facing a new pandemic when it comes to our children/teenagers and experimenting with drugs/alcohol than ever before. Amber has made it her mission to begin educating our children, at an early age, on the topic of drug use and how to be responsible with any type of medicine; whether prescribed or over the counter. It is our duty as parents and adults to help the next generation understand the impact that alcohol and drugs can have on our life when we make unhealthy decisions.
